| Loch Scavaig , Skye
Cruising areas: Firth of Clyde. You can spend a week exploring ever changing scenery in the upper firth, which includes Loch Long and the beautiful Kyles of Bute, or Loch Fyne in the north west.. the Kilbrannan Sound off the west of the Isle of Arran...Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula...and Sanda Island near the Mull of Kintyre. On the east side of the Firth, is the Ayrshire coast, Ailsa Craig and its sea birds.. the Rhinns of Galloway, and the picturesque little harbour of Portpatrick. The Isles of Arran, Bute and Cumbrae are well worth visiting too. There are many harbours and marinas which make interesting ports of call, as well as countless bays providing sheltered and peaceful anchorage. The castles and gardens of Brodick, Culzean, and Mount Stewart are interesting. Weekend cruises may visit Arran. We have a mooring in beautiful surroundings in the south of Lamlash Bay, with stunning views of the mountains of Arran and of Holy Isle. Lochranza at the north of the island is beautiful and peacful. The Ayrshire Coast provides several places of interest. Culzean Castle, and Turnberry make interesting visits. Ailsa Craig is spectacular when the weather is fine. Long weekends allow you to sail round Arran, or cruise in the Kyles of Bute and Loch Fyne. Inner Hebrides Based at Oban the islands of Mull, Islay and Jura are within easy reach during a six day cruise. There are many smaller islands and countless anchorages. Mull makes an interesting circumnavigation with lots of places to visit. To the west of Mull lie Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish Isles. The Sound of Mull and Loch Sunart provide sheltered sailing, and Tobermory is the main port of call. South of Mull, by way of the Garvellach Isles, Scarba, the Gulf of Corrievreckan, (on a good day) to Jura and Islay, there are distilleries to visit, mountains to climb and remote bays to anchor in. With a fair wind and tide, the Sounds of Islay and Jura make an exciting passage. Skye and the Small Isles. Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna make up the Small Isles. Mallaig is an ideal starting point. These islands are beautiful and interesting, from the rugged and mountainous to the more gentle.They are all quite different from one another. Whales and dolphins are often seen in this area. Among the myriad of wild life, Rum has red deer, and Canna has golden and white tailed sea eagles. Sanday, which adjoins Canna has puffins. Skye and the Cuillins lie a few miles to the north, and in quiet weather, Loch Scavaig provides one of the most wonderful anchorages imaginable. Events We are available for cruises taking in the Classic Malts Cruise, and festivals such as the Manx Traditional Boat Festival at Peel, Isle of Man, ..Portpatrick, .. Bangor Traditional Sail, and Ardglass Traditional Regatta, Northern Ireland. What does it cost? Generally Rosa & Ada is available for group bookings although we can accomodate individuals at times. Weekends in the Firth of Clyde......sailing Saturday morning, returning late afternoon Sunday...........£1,500 for six persons. Six day cruise .........£3,900 for six persons, sailing middle of Sunday, returning middle of Friday. (£650 per person) Day trip............£690 for six persons, sailing 9.30am and returning 6.30pm approx. ---------------------------------- Traditional cruise in company 6th - 12th August 2011 with Mascotte, Eda Frandsen, Ezra & Lizzie May. £760 per berth Sailing from and returning to Arisaig. Berths can be booked individually on this cruise. ---------------------------------- What you should bring with you. Clothes for warm weather, but remember that temperatures are generally cooler at sea than on land. Warm clothing. Make sure you have a change of clothing in case you get wet. Wellies are useful. Trainers are good on deck Waterproofs. We can supply a limited number of sizes if required. Camera. Binoculars. You may arrange your own drinks if you wish. We provide wine with meals, however we do not generally carry a bar stock. |
